Training & Background
Dr de Belder graduated from the University of London in 2012 with two Distinctions, four Merits and a Prize for Academic Excellence.
He completed his specialist GP training in the UK and worked full-time in the Moreton Bay region after emigrating to Australia. He holds Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK).
Dr Faraaz underwent specialist anaesthetics training in the Brisbane rotation, working at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital, Queensland Children's Hospital and holds a Staff Specialist appointment at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. He has a special interest in perioperative medicine and the primary-secondary care interface.
Dr Faraaz has extensive, specialist-level experience as a prehospital & retrieval medicine physician over the last fourteen years. He has special expertise in the care of the most unwell patients in austere, challenging environments. He has worked across ambulance, fixed-wing and helicopter emergency medicine services. He has held Senior Medical Officer positions within RFDS Queensland and holds both the Australian and British prehospital medicine Diplomas.
He also holds a Senior Lecturer appointment at Griffith University, teaching medical students and supervising junior doctors.
Qualifications
Dr de Belder holds Fellowships in Anaesthesia and General Practice, along with five postgraduate diplomas spanning geriatric medicine, tropical medicine and pre-hospital and retrieval medicine.
